Txomin Etxaniz is one of the top producers of Txakoli, and one of the oldest too. They’re located in the charming coastal town of Getaria, and when we say charming, we mean it. Seriously, taste the wine, google image search Getaria and you’ll be booking your next summer holiday before you know it. The wine comes from 35 hectares of vines facing the Atlantic and comprises 85% Hondarrabi Zuri (white) and 15% Hondarrabi Beltza (red), two varieties barely known outside of Basque Country. Ageing on the lees adds a Champagne-like yeastiness to the lively spritz, crunchy green apple acidity and notes of zingy lemon, crisp pear and white blossom. Perfect for hot weather and pintxos, we recommend stocking up if you want to add a little Spanish flair to your garden parties, picnics, barbeques or tapas night.
